Описание
Отличительными особенностями представителей трибы являются конический профиль головы мух; хорошо развитые у самок и самцов щетинки около простых глазков, они могут быть сходящиеся или расходящимися; низ переднегруди без щетинок; поперечная жилка (dm-m) крыла, ограничивающая дискомедиальную ячейку косая; радиальная жилка в основании до радиомедиальной жилки r-m в щетинках[1]. Эдеагус самца длинный закрученный[2][3]. Некоторые из указанных признаков могут встречаться и у представителей других триб подсемейства Dexiinae[1].
Образ жизни
Личинки развиваются в гусеницах совок, пядениц[2] и пилильщиков[4]. Самки откладывают яйца на тело хозяина[1].
Классификация
Систематическое положение трибы было предметом дискуссий систематиков. Одни их относили к подсемейству Tachininae, другие к Dexiinae, третьи выделяли в самостоятельное семейство Voriinae. Исследования морфологических особенностей и молекулярные данные подтвердили отнесение их к Dexiinae[2][5]. Трибу Voriini рассматривают как полифилетическую группу[1]. Сестринской трибой является Dexiini[6]. В мировой фауне насчитывается около 118 родов и 504 вида, в том числе[2][7].
