Распространение

Встречаются, в Неотропике[1].

Описание

Клопы округлой формы, верх выпуклый, блестящий. Длина тела менее 5 мм. Скутеллюм сильно выпуклый сверху и покрывает брюшко и надкрылья. Усики 4-члениковые. Лапки 2-члениковые. Все виды фитофаги[1][2][3].

Систематика

2 рода, один современный и один ископаемый из миоценового доминиканского янтаря. Megarididae было впервые выделено в 1928 году в качестве подсемейства Megaridinae в составе Pentatomidae[1][4][5]. В 1979 году получили статус отдельного семейства[6].

Филогения
