Стюарт Кулин англ. Stewart Culin (13.7.1858 — 8.4.1929) — американский этнограф, автор нескольких книг об играх, культуре и одежде. Он утверждал, что сходство в народных играх показывает сходство и среди различных культур по всему миру.

Биография

Стюарт Кулин родился в 1858 году в Филадельфии. Начальное образование Кулин получил в известной Пенсильванской школе Назарет Холл. Хотя Кулин не имел этнографического образования, он сыграл большую роль в формировании этнографии. Стюарт Кулин интересовался азиатско-американским населением Филадельфии, а позже сосредоточился на изучении приезжих рабочих из Китая. Его первой опубликованной работой была «Практики китайской медицины в Америке», датированная 1887 годом.
